I’m currently investigating Papervision3D, an ActionScript 3D animation API. The possibilities are very exciting; at the moment they are working on version 2.0, with some very fancy effects.
There are examples popping up all over the web: there’s a nice 3D ribbons demo from Airtight Interactive, or a set of 25 demos from the official Papervision blog. The Ludo Escrime site is a recent and particularly impressive example, using Papervision in the real world as site navigation (a bit over the top, but very cool).
I’ve checked out the latest source. and started tinkering … might be a while before I get anything working. Watch this space, but don’t hold your breath.
