TPG: Probably the worst ISP in the world (or at least Australia)

02.01.09 | 4 Comments

TPG continue to fail in a big way.

The service they are providing is awful. Packet loss, dropouts – totally useless when the main point of the connection is for developing web apps. Streaming video and downloads also stall, every time.

First I called, and got a message saying to call back later because the volume of traffic on their phone lines was so high (bad sign). So I emailed, and got an auto-responder saying that they would get back to me within two days – two days, for crying out loud!

But they couldn’t even keep that lame promise. Ten days later, I had still had no reply, so I emailed them asking them when they were planning to pull their finger out (in more polite terms, of course). I got a reply with a whole stack of cut-and-paste “internet for dummies” crap, instructions for IE/Win when I had told them in my first email I was on OS X, completely ignoring all information I had given them, no apologies.

I can therefore state that TPG are the worst ISP I have ever had to deal with, and would recommend scrubbing one’s own eyeballs with sandpaper before even thinking of signing up for an account with them. TPG, you fail.
